Wrinkle relaxers not only work to deactivate specific facial muscles but can actually reverse the effects of ageing. The treatment is simple, effective within 3 days and wears off gradually over 3 to 6 months (average 4 months). Retreatment is equally simple and effective. This procedure is one of the easiest, safest and dramatically effective cosmetic treatments available.
Wrinkle relaxers are made of a naturally occurring protein. (We are prohibited from mentioning the name due to TGA regulations.) Wrinkle relaxers work by weakening the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, resulting in a fresher, younger appearance.
Commonly treated areas are forehead lines, worry lines(frown)and crows feet. We can also treat a variety of other areas including brow lift, chin dimples and wrinkles, nasal lines and much more.
At Cosmetic Clinics we pride ourselves on running an ethical practice. All of our products are purchased from reputable companies within Australia. All of the goods are regulated and subjected to rigorous testing by the TGA. The wrinkle relaxers we use have been used for many years and are commonly used in children at much stronger doses for the treatment of muscular spasm in cerebral palsy. Side effects are extremely uncommon and if they occur are usually mild and temporary. The procedure is carried out in an appropriate medical facility by an experienced medical doctor.
We adopt a conservative approach to injecting to avoid the “frozen” look. Most patients prefer a natural appearance and we can always add more if you want to add to the effect. We always offer a complimentary follow up appointment and will take the time to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your result.
Treatment with wrinkle relaxers takes up to 15 minutes depending on the areas treated.
The wrinkle relaxer is injected with a very fine needle. We give ice packs to numb the area before injecting. Most patients do not find the procedure painful but if you are concerned or pain sensitive, call us and we can bring you in before your appointment and apply a local anesthetic cream on the skin before the procedure.
No, its completely your choice. Once the wrinkle relaxer has worn off, the muscle returns to its pre-treatment state. However, patients often find that the lines can be less noticeable as you have effectively “stopped the clock” for a period of months.
